Richard Dubuc has studied at Art Center College of Design and received a degree in merchandising design and a minor in exhibit design. After working in graphics for retail and retail stores, Richard decided to return to his interest in fantasy and art, joining WDI (Disney) Imagineering to become a freelance design illustrator for their theme parks. After several years as a designer, Richard returned to drawing, painting, and fantasy, finding solace in Sir Lawrence Te dema, Rossi, impressionism, Bouguereau and plein-air. Much of Richard's illustration focuses on scenes around Laguna Beach, Corona del Mar and Carmel-Monterey in the expressionist style, depicting coves and rocks, canyon scenes, or beach environments capturing the morning dream or scenes in the twilight of the day. Richard's castles are "as we would like to see the world—a continual growth in time—not one piece finished as though it need to conform only to the fantasy of the environment, adding and changing all the time." |
